Without further ado, here is our list of ideas for proposal spots!
Tucked away off highway 154, the ruins of the 1916 Knapp's Castle still stand today. The mansion was all but destroyed in a fire in 1940, but the massive sandstone fireplace, foundation, and a few walls remain intact. This private land is open to the public and can be reached via a very easy walk--about 0.8 of a mile. The way the sun sets upon the valley that this once grand structure overlooks is beyond wonderful. Not to mention there are plenty of nooks for a photographer to hide and capture the big surprise!
For the less adventurous and perhaps more refined location, you cannot outdo the Ritz! Perched on the coastal cliffs of Goleta, the Bacara Resort provides a stunning backdrop. Not to mention their accommodations! Make the proposal a weekend affair with an overnight stay so you can enjoy all the facility has to offer. For the wine enthusiast: don't miss out on the Foley Tasting room!
This venue is a personal favorite. If the dreamy lavender fields and lush gardens don't enchant you, just wait until dusk. Tucked in the foothills of Montecito, this is a location your soon to be FIANCE will never forget. A five-star dinner prepared by resident chef using an on site garden's harvest awaits--and dining with an ocean view under the stars and beside the crackling fire is an enchanting experience. We cannot envision a more romantic location for the beginning of your forever.
Our list of top romantic proposal locations could not be complete without this world renowned beach! Beach proposals are like fairy's dust: what all dreams are made of. Whether you envision asking at sunset with your toes in the sand, or asking over a luxurious candle lit dinner beside the waves...this location has it all.
Escape to one of the 10 best gardens in the world, right in our back yard! This 37-acre property in the Montecito hills was carefully cultivated over almost a century by Polish opera singer and socialite, Madame Ganna Walska. It is now open to the public by reservation. The unique selection of plants and gardens should not be missed and are sure to provide a remarkable backdrop to take a knee!
Undeniably Ventura's landmark, this 1700's historical cross was erected shortly after the founding of the San Buenaventura Mission by Father Junipero Serra. It served as a guide post for travelers and has been replaced and maintained to this day. The view from this hilltop pinnacle is incomparable with views of the Channel Islands on clear days. It is open to the public and a great spot to enjoy the Ventura sunset.
Our favorite place in Ojai, Meditation Mount is very special. Nestled back in the valley through the beautiful orange groves of the "East End," this magnificent point provides the perfect viewing spot of the famous Ojai Pink Moment. Enjoy a leisurely walk through the native gardens, stop and enjoy the koi pond, and finally snuggle up on a blanket for a sunset your soon to be FIANCE will never forget!
How could we resist? Redwoods in SoCal? There is something so ethereal about the forest floor beneath the giant Sequoia. The oldest of these trees dates back to 1926. The 78-acre property, hidden in the Santa Barbara hills, is a lovely preservation of native wildlife. For a small admission, this property is open to the public and like no other location in our area.
For the hikers and nature enthusiasts, we couldn't leave this hidden gem off the list. About a 40 minute drive up hwy 33 into the Los Padres National Forest, you will find Rose Valley Campground. From the campground you follow a very easy half-mile hike to what can only be described as magical. The waterfall flows almost year round, slowing to a trickle in late summer. The way the moss hangs off the towering rocks, the mist that dances in the air, and the light that breaks from the peak . . . truly an unforgettable sight!
Aaaand last, but definitely not least:
Ohhh islands. It is just us with a soft spot for majestic and rugged ocean views? This location would certainly not disappoint, but would definitely take some planning. Local boats charter to the island daily and provide lots of options for day and overnight camping trips.
So what so you think? Did we spark some ideas? You don't have to do it all on your own. We can help!
