Jordan and Anna met through their involvement in the Christian Ministry while away for college at the University of Oklahoma. They became fast friends and soon enjoyed all kinds of activities together--that is, until Anna’s junior year, when she fell sick and had to move back home to California. The next year was, what her mother described at Anna’s bridal shower, “the most difficult year of our lives.” Anna fought through cancer treatment with the support of her family and Jordan. Anna’s mom shared that “Jordan was such a wonderful friend to her, sending care packages and Skyping consistently.”
As you may have guessed, Anna and Jordan began long distance dating and became even closer as they got to know each other's families. On a visit to California on July 16th, 2017, after an elaborate scavenger hunt, that her sister facilitated, Jordan proposed to Anna on top of a sea cliff in Malibu, California!
Jordan finished school shortly after and got a job as an athletic advisor in California at Fresno State, which is about a three hour drive from Anna’s home in Simi Valley. This gap led to Anna and Jordan’s relationship being long distance again, but this time they could see a light at the end of the tunnel. They set the date, July 13th, 2018, and Anna made plans to join her soon-to-be husband in Fresno immediately following tying the knot!
Anna reached out to White Sage after a comprehensive search for the right planning partner. She, too, was in the event industry as the event coordinator for the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California. With her extensive event experience, she felt confident that she could plan the wedding of her dreams. She knew, however, that she wanted to have a partner to take over the planning of the final month, so she could relax and enjoy her special day.
We met for happy hour at Lure Fish House in Camarillo and immediately connected. Anna was so full of joy and energy, and we had the best time hearing about her and her fiancée--at the time--Jordan. Needless to say, from the first time hearing their story at happy hour, to reliving details surrounded by all of the amazing women in her life at her bridal shower, we could hardly keep it together. Anna and Jordan’s love is so special and unique, because it was built from a solid foundation of friendship and support.
Planning with Anna was beyond a breeze; she was completely organized and had the clearest vision for her big day. Anna got ready for her wedding at her parents’ home with her sister and bridesmaids, who were all in beautiful blush pink, mismatched dresses. Anna and Jordan’s venue was the stunning McCormick Home Ranch in Camarillo. They did not want a first look--she envisioned her groom seeing her for the first time at the altar. We helped to keep the guys on one side of the ranch, and the girls on the other.
There were so many special personal elements incorporated. Anna’s pastor growing up was able to officiate the ceremony, Jordan’s brother was the best man, Anna’s sister was the maid of honor, and Jordan’s step brother was the very talented videographer. Anna walked down the aisle, holding a bouquet that incorporated a Navy pendant, in honor of her brother, Josh, since he was deployed overseas. After a beautiful garden ceremony, family gathered in the gravel drive for sun-kissed photos, while guests enjoyed drinks and an amazing appetizer spread.
Their reception was kicked off with their grand entrance and first dance, followed by dinner and toasts. Then, Anna’s younger brother in the Navy, Josh, had a surprise. Josh had recorded a video that we secretly strategized with her parents and Matt our fabulous DJ to play. She was completely shocked. It was an amazingly special and heartfelt moment for more than just Anna--all around, tears were shed.
Anna and Jordan topped off the night with dancing, delicious cake and cupcakes, and finally, a gorgeous sparkler send off. We still laugh about this send off, because as we got guests lined up and started to light all the sparklers, Brooke turned to get Anna, only to see her running in the opposite direction to grab her purse! Brooke yelled out to her, “Anna! No!” because there wouldn’t be enough time before the sparklers ran out. Brooke told Anna to join her husband in walking through the magical sparklers and she met them at the end with purse in hand. Anna and Jordan then departed together for their first night as husband and wife. We will never forget this silly moment. We love being there for any little thing our clients may need.
Two days after the wedding, the happy couple journeyed to Lake Tahoe for their honeymoon, and then officially moved in together in Fresno, forever done with dating long distance.
Congratulations again, Anna & Jordan!!
