Nicole and Joseph came to us just a little more than a month prior to their wedding date. All the major vendors were in place, but our bride was starting to feel the need to pass off her planning reigns so she could fully enjoy their special day.
Ally and I met with Nicole and Joseph at their venue, Camp Comfort in Ojai, and gathered all the details. We quickly became aware that this was going to be a very personal and super fun gathering. They had rented out the entire facility, and many family and friends would be camping on site with them. They described a ceremony that would include a traditional Native American flutist accompaniment, sage and copal burning, oil anointment, and individual vow exchange. Sacred and full of intention—what more could we ask for?
But, of course, they surprised us as they explained further. The pronouncement and recessional would kick off cocktail hour with a lively Mariachi band! Up next: dinner and dancing with the DJ, and then the bride and groom would complete a wardrobe change and perform the Brazilian dance martial art of Capoeira! Wow, what a unique and memorable celebration. But that’s still not all! The evening was topped off with another live performance by their Capoeira instructor’s Brazilian Funk Band! We were hooked and had to be a part of such a unique and special gathering. We are beyond grateful to have had photographer David Mendoza there to capture all the details. We will always remember this couple and their day full of pure joy.
